WHO’S CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS?
Christopher Columbus was born at 1451 in Genoa, Italy. He was actually Italian as a lot of people think or say that he was either British or Spanish. Growing up he wanted to be a sailor which he did. At the age he was an adult most of the countries were doing a lot discoveries, and there was a big competition going on between the nations or the Empires. Christopher Columbus moved to Spain later on and started to work as a trading sailor and he used to import or trade spices from India.
At a time he decided to try to find a faster way to get to India so it would be safer, faster and so that it would cost less for him to get there because the crews need food and salary and
on the way they might have had many accidents because of after the Crusades the relationship between the Middle East and the Europe and since the Middle East was in their way to get to India. So with all of those problems Christopher decided to go West instead of the usual way, and he got lucky that he survived the journey and he by accident “discovered” the North America at the 1492, and when he reached the North America he thought the people living there were Indians so that’s why many people call the Native Americans Indians. He again went across the Atlantic Ocean in 1493, 1498 and 1502.
Many people think that the person who found or sailed from Spain is actually called Christopher Columbus but really his name was Cristoforo Colombo. The real reason that many people call him Christopher Columbus is because the British Empire had a big Empire which is actually the biggest Empire ever existed. The British Empire immediately took over the newly “discovered” as it did with Australia. They took over the North America and because it was a shame for them to tell or write in the history that a Italian man was actually the one who “discovered” the North America they changed his name in the history so no one would actually know that he wasn’t British which they actually succeeded at first but after a while many people figured out what was going on.
DID CRISTOFORO REALLY DISCOVER NORTH AMERICA?
Most of the information that most of the people currently have about Cristoforo Colombo is wrong or not exactly right! Many of the people even today and even some in the schools around the world still think that Cristoforo Colombo was the person who discovered the North America which is absolutely not correct. Even if you’d say that he was the first person to go to North America you’d still be wrong because the first people to go to North America from Europe were the Vikings.
The fact that we say that North America wasn’t “discovered” by the Europeans is because there were already many people living there -which would be the First Nations-. So when some people are already living at some place then that place is not discovered by the person who has reached it a long time after. What we could say though would be that Cristoforo Colombo and the Vikings were the first people to locate the North America on the map before anyone else did.
Although when Vikings reached there
, most of them died because of the
conflict that was going on between
the First Nations and the Vikings, and because they didn’t settle, so that’s why the credits went to Cristoforo Colombo.
